IT'S IMPORTANT TO REMEMBER WE ALL HAVE MAGIC INSIDE US
Somewhere in the adult handbook we’re encouraged to sacrifice our child-like imaginations in order to focus on work. Before you know it, we’re grown and we’ve forgotten how to play.
To that I say, “NO THANKS”.
What is life if there isn’t a reason to enjoy it? As kids, we used to play as a means of learning and we were all happier because of it, no? So, that’s where this photo shoot comes in. Like countless others, I love stories like LORD OF THE RINGS, STAR WARS, and of course HARRY POTTER. Their authors penned complete, three dimensional worlds full of mystery, excitement, conflict, love, and above all, LIFE! So, to honor these stories and my own desire to play, I’m going to visit the part of my imagination that stores Ms. JK Rowling’s world of Harry Potter, and play there.
The whole concept started as a “Harry Potter inspired” photoshoot, but I didn’t want to add to the worlds we have access to via the films or theme parks. I wanted to visit a corner of that universe that hadn’t been written; I wanted to imagine the whole thing into existence.
“What if Hogwarts was a private school in Bel-Air or on the Upper East Side?”
And that’s when the idea for this collection was born: Gossip Girl meets Scream Queens meets Hogwarts. A dabble in high fashion editorial with a nod to Christian Lacroix, a wink to Lagerfeld’s CHANEL, and an ode to VOGUE. This collection is a departure from what I’ve been comfortable with, and a bold step backwards to my child-like imagination.
And with that, I’m proud to present:
definition: so fierce you slay everyone around you.
